Introduction
I was introduced to God at a young age, but not in the way He intended. My grandparents brought me to their church, where I learned bits and pieces of the Bible, some children’s songs, and a few stories, but it was a version of Christianity wrapped more in rules and control. Between the struggles I faced at home and the way I was raised, I carried with me a broken and twisted picture of who God was and what faith was supposed to mean.
That confusion followed me for years. I knew about God, but I didn’t know Him. Not personally, not intimately. I didn’t trust Him. So, like many people, I tried to figure life out on my own. I got married. I made my own choices, trying to navigate life. But something always felt off. I felt empty and alone.
I didn’t see God in the broken parts of my childhood, in the loneliness of my marriage, or in the moments I wondered if I mattered to anyone at all. But now I know: He was there.
This book is my story. A timeline of how God patiently unraveled the lies I believed and showed me Himself with gentleness, mercy, and truth. It’s a story of pain, healing, and the quiet discovery that even in my loneliest seasons, I was never truly alone.
You won’t find a perfect woman in these pages. You’ll find a real one. A woman who tried to hold it all together and fell apart. A woman who wore masks, chased validation, and wrestled with her worth. But you’ll also find a woman who met Jesus in the ruins. Who found peace in the mess. And who now longs to hand that peace to you, chapter by chapter.
You’ll read about the little girl who smiled on the outside but didn’t feel seen. The woman who looked like she had it together but was barely holding on. The moments I felt the most forgotten, and the quiet ways God was moving all along.
Each chapter will share a piece of that journey, ending with a short devotional, a few reflection questions, and a simple prayer, because this isn’t just about my story.
It’s about yours, too.
My hope is that as you read, you’ll begin to see your own life differently. That you’ll recognize the God who never stopped pursuing you even in your quietest, darkest, most complicated places. No matter how far off course your story began, no matter how long it’s taken to untangle truth from lies, and no matter how alone you’ve felt…
You’ve never really been alone. Not really.
When I sat down to write Alone, but Not Really, I didn’t just want to tell my story.
I wanted to tell ours.
Because the truth is, we’ve all had seasons where we’ve felt overlooked, rejected, or just plain weary. But God’s voice never left. He was whispering, “You’re not alone.”
That’s why every chapter of this book ends with a devotional, reflection questions, and a prayer—so you can not only read my story but also step into your own healing journey.
If the intro resonated with you, I’d love for you to keep reading:
